Asset Inspection

Inspect every AI-generated image and video in full resolution. Zoom to 800%, compare versions side by side, drop annotation pins, and review generation metadata without ever leaving the lightbox.

  • 800% Deep Zoom
  • Side-by-Side Compare
  • Annotation Pins
  • Keyboard Shortcuts

Quick Start

The lightbox opens when you click any asset thumbnail in your library. From there, use the scroll wheel to zoom, arrow keys to browse, and Escape to close.

Basic Viewing

  1. 1. Click any asset thumbnail to open the lightbox.
  2. 2. Scroll to zoom in and out (zoom follows your cursor position).
  3. 3. Double-click to toggle between fit-to-screen and 100% actual size.
  4. 4. Click and drag to pan when zoomed in.
  5. 5. Press Escape or click the backdrop to close.

Compare Two Assets

  1. 1. Select two assets in the grid (hold Shift and click).
  2. 2. Click the Compare button in the toolbar.
  3. 3. Choose a comparison mode: Side by Side, Overlay, or Wipe.
  4. 4. Both assets share zoom level and pan position, so you can inspect matching regions together.

Keyboard Shortcuts

Press K inside the lightbox to show this panel at any time.

Comparison Modes

Select two assets and click Compare to enter comparison view. Switch between modes using the toggle in the toolbar.

Side by Side

How to use: This is the default mode when you open comparison view. Both assets appear next to each other, each taking half the viewport.

Controls: Zoom and pan are synchronised across both panels. Scroll to zoom both images simultaneously, or drag to pan them in lockstep.

Best for: Comparing overall composition, colour grading, and large-scale differences between prompt variations or upscale passes.

Overlay

How to use: Select Overlay from the mode toggle. One asset is layered on top of the other. Adjust the opacity slider to blend between them.

Controls: Drag the opacity slider left or right to transition from 100% of one asset to 100% of the other. Zoom and pan work normally.

Best for: Spotting subtle differences in texture, noise, or fine detail that are hard to catch in a side-by-side layout.

Wipe

How to use: Select Wipe from the mode toggle. A vertical divider appears in the centre of the viewport.

Controls: Drag the divider left or right to reveal one asset on each side. The boundary is pixel-precise, so you can scrub across regions of interest.

Best for: Directly comparing matching regions, such as before/after inpainting, upscale sharpness, or parameter changes on identical compositions.

Annotation Pins

How to Place Pins

  1. 1. Click the Pin tool in the lightbox toolbar (the map pin icon).
  2. 2. Click anywhere on the image to drop a numbered pin. Each pin receives an auto-incrementing number (1, 2, 3, etc.).
  3. 3. Click an existing pin to select it or remove it.
  4. 4. Click the Pin tool again or press Escape to exit pin placement mode.

When to Use Pins

  • Mark artefacts: Flag distorted hands, blurred regions, or JPEG compression issues for later cleanup.
  • Highlight regions: Draw a colleague's attention to specific areas during team review sessions.
  • Track progress: Pin areas that need inpainting or regeneration, then compare the result in a later version.

Metadata Panel and Prompt Peek

Opening the Metadata Panel

Click the Info button (the i icon) in the lightbox toolbar. A slide-out panel appears on the right-hand side.

The panel displays:

  • Generation tool (ComfyUI, Midjourney, etc.)
  • Full prompt and negative prompt text
  • Model name, sampler, seed, CFG scale, and step count
  • Image dimensions and file size
  • Creation, upload, and modification dates
  • ComfyUI workflow details (nodes, models, LoRAs) when available

Prompt Peek

Prompt Peek provides a quick glance at the generation prompt without opening the full metadata panel. Hover over the prompt preview strip at the bottom of the lightbox to expand it.

Click the strip to lock it open while you zoom and pan the image. Click again to dismiss. This is useful when you need to reference the prompt text while inspecting specific regions of the output.

Video Playback

Video assets play directly in the lightbox with full transport controls (play/pause, scrub, volume, and fullscreen). The player loads automatically when you open a video asset.

Supported formats:

  • MP4 (H.264/H.265) and WebM (VP8/VP9)
  • ComfyUI AnimateDiff outputs (animated sequences exported as MP4 or GIF)

Arrow keys still navigate between assets while a video is open. Playback pauses automatically when you leave the current asset.

Accessibility

The lightbox meets WCAG 2.1 AA standards. The following accessibility features are always active:

  • Reduced motion: All transitions and animations respect the prefers-reduced-motion OS preference. When enabled, zoom and pan transitions are instant.
  • Keyboard-accessible: Every control in the lightbox is reachable via keyboard. Press K to view all available shortcuts.
  • Focus trapping: When the lightbox is open, keyboard focus is confined within it. Tab order cycles through the toolbar, image, and close button.
  • Screen reader support: ARIA landmark regions and live announcements communicate state changes (zoom level, current asset, mode switches).
  • Touch targets: All interactive elements meet the minimum 44px touch target size for reliable mobile and tablet interaction.
